My Life in the 21st Century
graphite on paper
In the summer or 2019, I picked up a cheap yellow mechanical pencil and a pad of Bristol board paper for the first time in decades and started sketching. What started out as doodles and patterns filtering through my stream of consciousness became story.
Each night after work, I sit obsessively documenting. As life accelerated and came to a complete stop at the same time, the earth reminds us of its dominance and our impermanence; leadership turns to total chaos—my pencil never stops.
My previous experience as an editorial illustrator is quickly transforming these pages into a project. As I continue to document my corner of America, My Life in the 21st Century is evolving into a book.
All work is graphite on smooth Bristol paper, 14” x 17”. Prints are available.
